My mom cut off our service with time warner cable, so i am using wireless internet straight from my computer. I have a modem, but when i use a wired connection, it won't work at all. you prob have to set it up through your xbox settings, set up a connection,, or try to reset the router or modem so it picks up the ip address on the xbox, try restarting both at the same time
