Where can I get laptop wireless connections and how does it work?

Ok, so I'm getting a laptop. I wanted some info on where or how I can get wireless internet for my laptop and some good prices too. I've never done this berfore.

I don't want to have to go to like starbucks or any place like that to get wireless internet just like where ever I go.

I do know I have to get an internet card.

You need a wireless card and and a wireless access point. You will have to buy a wireless router for home use. There is no easy way.
