I have a laptop (a Toshiba Equium L20) that has wireless capability, it has previously connected successfully to my wireless router (a Phillips wireless router). Even though my other computers will connect to the network, the other one doesn't seem to even be able to find it even though it detects my neighbours connections. What can I do to troubleshoot this problem? How do I connect my laptop to my wireless network?
There are a number of possibilities, but I will take a guess at the most likely ones.
First, have you tried configuring it manually? Or are you relying on some one-touch single-button setup? Sometimes the 'auto-setup' feature doesn't work right. The directions should tell you how to get to the configuration webpage of your router.
Second, go into the configuration of your router. If you have an option for SSID Broadcast, make sure it is enabled. Otherwise, your computer won't be able to see it.
Third, are you sure they are on the same band? 802.11B and 802.11G are on the same band, and can work together. 802.11A is on a totally different frequency.
Also, have you rebooted your router? Yes, I know your other computers work, but weird things happen sometimes with routers, like exactly this problem...
