How do I avoid getting disconnected with my wireless router?

On my laptop which has wireless internet, everytime the phone rings or someone is talking on it, I get disconnected from the internet. However, this does not happen on my desktop. (Which is not wireless) Why does this happen, and what can I do to fix it?How do I avoid getting disconnected with my wireless router?
Change the channel of the router. If there are any cordless phones in the building they may share the channel. Keep them as far away from the router (including their base stations) as possible. Unlikely, since the desktop does not suffer, but check that ALL the phone equipment in use is connected through a dsl filter, not straight to the wall. You must have one filter on every piece of equipment and the dsl router. How do I avoid getting disconnected with my wireless router?
Go into your router. Change your wireless channel to 1, 6, or 11. Do not use any other of the channels. This is because all of the channels have overlap. In order to get the maximum number of channels with no overlap, you have to use 1, 6, and 11.
