Im planning on buying the old one since it saves more money I read somewhere on a forum that the old one you have to connect into the wall does anybody know what he means? Does he mean connect the power chord or connect it to an ethernet im not sure.

all xbox 360's are able to use the USB WiFi adapter. The xbox wireless adapter is a VERY good wifi device usually you will not get any lag but i depends on the router and what WiFi channel you are on either A, B or G.

no, if you use wireless, there will be some lag. since your brother is using a direct connection he wont get any lagging.
