How to make invisible a wireless network?

I have a Netgear Rangemax wireless router that I want to make an invisible network with. At the store the woman called it ';stealth'; but I've found neither of these things on the Netgear website nor in the settings for the router.

How do I do this? Do I need a different device? Replace the firmware? How to make invisible a wireless network?
Start with turning off the SSID, but remember what it is so you can connect yourself. That stops the broadcast of the wireless ID. It's not 100%, but does hide the wireless from 99% of the people out there. hackers will still find it...you need good wireless security regardless....How to make invisible a wireless network?
The lady at the store was talking imaginary nonsense. There is no stealth setting. Disabling SSID is not a security feature. It is a myth.

SSID cannot really be hidden. Anyone capable of running a simple downloaded tool can easily discover it.

It is sent in clear form in every beacon, probe, re/association frame from either the access point or clients. What actually happens is the efficency of the network is decreased by additional squawk and SSID is put out on the air more frequently overall. The reverse of setting out to make a network less 'visible'.

Instead you enable the best real security the product has and go with that and don't take security advice from idiot store clerks.
There is no way to make it invisible. Turning off SSID broadcast only takes away the constant emitting of the name of your network. The router still continues to broadcast this ID which is easily picked up. Just secure it with atleast WPA and a strong pass (more than 10characters and not a dictionary word)
You just need to disable the broadcasting of the ssid. Check out the manual here http://74.125.113.132/search?q=cache:Y84鈥?/a>

just do a search for SSID and it should point you in the right direction.

Hope this helps.
Disable the SSID broadcast.
