How to choose the right wireless network card for my desktop?

I have a compaq desktop computer that i bought 3 years ago. I have no idea how to choose the right wireless network card for it.

Please help !How to choose the right wireless network card for my desktop?
Open it it up and look at the slots 99% chance it will be a PCI slot... if you don't know or don't want to do this. Buy a USB type wireless card and don't worry about it.

There are many factors that determine the performance of a wifi. See for example this page which talks about wifi access points, but stuff like bandwidth, path loss, delay spread, sensitivity and others apply the same way.

To make the story short, decide what standard (speed) you want to go with. Unless you really need a loooot of bandwidth, I would go with 802.11g. This gives you plenty of bandwidth. See here for more details http://www.maxi-pedia.com/IEEE+Wireless+Wi-Fi+networking+802.11+standards

The next most important factor is the sensitivity. This is not easy to research. Reviews are the best resources. Do your research on Amazon, CNET, etc.
Most any pci card is ok. Dont get the one that looks like a thumbdrive that plugs in the usb. They have low connectivity
