On your laptop, go to Help and Support services. Search for Internet Connection sharing. Follow the given steps on your Laptop and on your computer. You should be able to access internet on both the computer. Make sure your laptop and desktop are connected using a 'Cross cable'How to connect a laptop's wireless connection to a pc?
actually, yes.

It's called a cross-over cable, and allows you to create something called an ';ad-hoc'; network between the two computers.

I did that for a network I was setting up for my company, but we only had one cellular internet usb card.

call the number there and I'll help you through it if you need.

no charge, no worries.

also, limaye's answer was totally incomplete and useless. I hate it when people who don't know what they're doing try to answer technical questions. so much bad info on the internets.
